EiABC is under the process of publishing the first Scientific Architectural / Urban book of its kind in the country titled ‘’Building Ethiopia”: Sustainability and Innovation in Architecture and Design. The book contains a range of essays, articles and projects from various academia members at the Institute as well as practitioners in the fields. The launch date of the book will be on the 25th of November at a scientific conference with the same title to be held at EiABC. There will be local and international keynote speakers present on the occasion. 

The publication will be a summarization of all the documenta­tion in the teaching and research phases of projects at EiABC com­ing together to form a pioneer document in these more or less unchartered territory of SUSTAINABILITY,INNOVATION and DESIGN in Ethiopia, serving as a rich mine of information for fur­ther research and future project planning. 

As Ethiopia is home to one of the fastest growing urban population in the world (an average of 5% per annum), an accelerating need for structures, strategies and systems for accommodating this ris­ing demand has become urgent. Through its chairs and laboratories, EiABC has been experimenting on developing methods and sys­tems to contextually and appropriately respond to this current de­mand. As a result many projects dealing with design strategies in all scales (architectural and urban) had been undertaken, with the primary aim of delineating not only sustainable urban/architectural systems but also achieving an adaptable, flexible and equitable urban structure which can accommodate transformations.
