On the 27th of August 2015, EiABC signed an agreement framework for mutual cooperation with EC-LILLE, Ecole Central de Lille, France. The two institutions have mutual interest in creating friendship, understanding and cooperation bonds to implement a general structure that strengthens and expands cultural and educational agreements between them. The purpose of the agreement is to establish cooperation between the partner institutions for the joint development of academic, cultural, scientific and technical activities in accordance with the basic functions of higher education such as teaching, research and the extension of all the areas of reciprocal interest.
The agreement will enable the exchange of students, professors and researchers within the framework of the existing extra curricula, it will facilitate joint research and studies, allow supervision of joint doctoral programs, organising of courses conferences, workshops and the like, development and and exchange of joint publications and developing research activities in the field of construction, construction management, materials, civil engineering and other related fields.
Wednesday, August 19, 2015. EiABC were visited by H.E. Mekuria Haile (Minister of Urban Development and Construction), H.E. Wondwossen Kiflu (State minister MoE, Director of ecbp), Dr. Admasu Tsegaye (President of AAU), Eng. Abera Bekele (Chair of Ethiopian Constructor Association), Dr. Berhanu Assefa (A/Scientific Director AAiT), Ato Giorgis Aklilu (Deputy Managing Director AAiT), and Mr. Munhong Yim (Managing Director AAiT) for an EiABC Supervisory Board meeting. This is the regular meeting that The EiABC’ supervisory board will have every 3 months to make sure all member aware and informed about the development and progress of EiABC, also through this meeting the member will be able to track the current situation so they can give the future direction for EiABC.

EiABC is really proud of its current achievements such as Kitchen project, Clinic project, ICT project, Dormitory, and some other improvement that was happened within 2014 – 2015. Together with EiABC’ Management board, the supervisory board was being invited to see the progress of all projects mentioned above so they can directly witness what EiABC has done. However, the project is on its process to be finalized so it still need time to ensure all of this project will be finalized in the good quality and can be a good use for EiABC staff and student.
After a visit to some project site in EiABC the team headed to the meeting room to start their meeting which later on finished at 9 PM.

A stakeholder meeting is one of the important parts that can support EiABC to keep on its track to be one of the best institutes in Ethiopia or even also in international. Participations of every stakeholder are the key point to achieve what EiABC has achieved so far, and to achieve EiABC’ goal in the future.

Dr. Zewdalem Ejigu explain about EiABC Clinic
The Association of Ethiopian Architects (AEA) annual convention, 17th edition will be held on 28th and 29th of August 2015, at Sheraton Addis. The convention promises to be the single largest gathering of professionals (800+) of the building industry in the country. This gathering of architects and professionals comes at a time where the country’s construction sector offers immense opportunities in the service sector as well as industry while government has embarked on an aggressive infrastructural growth path covering the development of roads, hydro-electric projects and airports.
The AEA is the leading association that represents the interest of architects whose creativity and work has lead to the birth of many structures embracing the city’s landscape. The convention is organised in pursuit of excellence in architecture. It will give individuals, firms and institutions in the building and construction industry an opportunity to network under the same roof. EiABC, being the largest and oldest institute in which many of our country’s greatest architects started their journey, will be one of the key stakeholders to attend theconvention.
On August 1st, 2015, EiABC witnessed the opening ceremony of the first ever international summer school of the institute, in fact the first ever summer school of this kind in Ethiopia. The opening ceremony was held at the institutes compound in the presence of some of the participants, instructors, the Scientific Director of EiABC, Mr. Joachim Dieter, and other staff members.
The EiABC has an educational mandate for life long learning, further training of professionals and creating a network for young minds. The topics selected for this year’s summer school are mostly related with one of the three core areas of the institute, Architecture and Design. They include; architectural design, visual arts and photography, history, design and built, product design and model making, from planning to design, media design, culture and even entrepreneurship. By the end of the trainings, the interdisciplinary and multi-national teams are expected to share fresh ideas concerning Ethiopia related problems and issues.
Mr. Joachim Dieter welcomed also all international guests, whereby most of them are still on their way to Ethiopia, and wished all an exciting stay, new impressions, friendship, and the establishments of new international networks.
The Scientific Director highlighted the continuous support through sponsors and cooperations, especially the strong support and cooperation with GIZ, the German Agency for International Cooperation, in the area of the establishment of the Ethiopian Bamboo sector, and the support of the education at EiABC with financial capital, bamboo experts as well as equipment.
